Release Date: Nov 10, 2016
Beginning today until November 14th, Isetan Shinjuku hosts MY CUP OF FAVOR.
Follow the aromas to the 6th floor and awaiting you are 12 of Japan’s leading coffee roasters. You can buy a cup of coffee at 7 of the stands, but the majority of this year’s event is focused around allowing customers to taste coffee and talk with coffee baristas and roasters about how to brew better coffee back home. Various beans are on sale – we even noticed some Cup of Excellence beans in there too.
On the first day, we met Hidenori Izaki, 2014 World Barista Champion who was making coffee at the Maruyama stand, and Nik got a great photo of him together with barista Miki Suzuki, who Japan hopes to become the 2nd World Barista Champion, having taken out the Japan Barista Championship this year. Izaki-san and Suzuki-san may well be at the Maruyama stand when you visit!
For those wanting to brew a cleaner fuller and richer cup of coffee at home- many people recommend the Aeropress. Have you ever tried using one? At the Ogawa Coffee stand, you can learn how to use an Aeropress, and you can even try it out yourself.
And finally we welcome two newcomers to this year’s event – CAFE TENANGO, recommending their Guatemala El Injerto and ROKUMEI COFFEE recommending their Cup of Excellence from El Salvador.
See you at Isetan!
