Mgmt, YMO and Blue Bottle’s James Freeman have one thing in common. They are big fans of Satei Hato.
It’s not hard to see why. About a minute on foot from Shibuya station sits one of the best kissaten-style coffee houses in the whole of Japan. You pay about 850 yen for a cup of coffee, but it’s well worth it.
One cup of coffee holds a whopping 30g of beans and aged-beans are also available on the menu. If you order the aged beans, you will probably wait about 20 minutes for your coffee to be made. Your coffee is made by coffee masters in collared shirts with ties, who also take the time to choose one of the many cups in the store just for you. Every cup is beautiful.
Satei Hato would hold approximately 40 customers, and there is often a queue. Open from 11 until 11. Meetings go better when they’re held here.
